Meet Katharine Trask
Katharine Trask is an educator, professional writer and producer, and the founder of Trask Teaches, offering personalized instruction in filmmaking, screenwriting, screen craft, video editing, and creative writing.
Before entering education, Katharine spent more than 26 years working in television as a writer and producer. She now brings that real-world industry experience directly to students, teaching not only the technical elements of filmmaking, but also the art of telling a compelling story.
Through Trask Teaches students can explore the entire creative process—from developing an original idea with unique characters and writing a script—to understanding shot composition, visual storytelling, directing, production, and editing.
Katharine’s approach is hands-on, encouraging, and highly personalized. Whether a student wants to write their first screenplay, learn how movies and television are made, develop filmmaking and editing skills, or simply become a more imaginative and confident storyteller, instruction is tailored to the student’s interests, experience, and creative goals.
At the heart of Trask Teaches is a simple belief: every student has a story worth telling.
